We Are Cornwall’s Communities – The Film Is Here!

We are proud to announce the completion of We Are Cornwall’s Communities – a powerful short documentary created by, with, and for the people of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. This marks the final stage of an inspiring collaboration between Cornwall Lived Experience Partnership (CLEP) and Screen Cornwall, supported by Cornwall Community Foundation.

A True Community Effort

At the heart of this project was a commitment to ensure that the real voices of Cornwall, especially those too often unheard, could be seen, heard, and valued. What began as a series of filmmaking workshops evolved into a truly collective production that brought together dozens of individuals and organisations from across the region.

Our journey

  1. Filmmaking Workshops

We began by delivering creative, skills-based workshops to lived experience groups. Participants learned how to film and interview one another, uncovering confidence and storytelling abilities they didn’t know they had.

This stage wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the amazing team at Screen Cornwall. We’re incredibly grateful for the time and expertise you shared with us and the communities we work alongside.

  1. A Public Call-Out

We invited people across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly to submit their own videos, audio recordings, or photographs in response to three central questions:

  • What is living in Cornwall like for you?
  • What do you wish people knew about your community?
  • What does it mean to be heard?

The result? A diverse and deeply personal archive of contributions capturing the heartbeat of our communities.

  1. Additional Filming

Some of the groups who took part in the workshops continued to film even after the sessions ended, capturing more footage and deepening their storytelling. Their commitment helped enrich the film even further.

  1. Post-Production

Our editor, Winston Tjia, carefully brought together all the submitted content and workshop footage. Multiple versions of the film were created to ensure everyone’s voice was represented with care and integrity.

  1. Accessibility & Sound

Working alongside Saskia from TalkMoreCornwall, we made sure the final film is as accessible and inclusive as possible. Eli Allison composed a beautiful original soundtrack, and Andy Edney delivered a final sound mix that brings it all together. Thank you so much!

  1. Publishing & Premiere

Thanks to the Marketing Team at disAbility Cornwall, the film has been published on the DISCOVER Voices YouTube channel, where it’s now available for everyone to watch, share, and reflect on.

Thank You

This project could not have happened without the generosity, courage, and creativity of every contributor. To those who filmed, edited, supported others — and, most importantly, shared their voices — thank you.

You trusted us with your stories. This film belongs to you.
